It's beautiful..... and It's green!
you know every mosque is beautiful in its own way but oh man is the dome of the rock beautiful...
The entire color scheme of the outside is blues and yellows and the inside is so green- green and gold and its breathtaking. Pictures will definitely be up soon. And inside "kubat il sakhra" where the rock is, I got the most intense feeling, literally chills.
I don't remember ever feeling so deeply into a prayer as the Jummah prayer in Jerusalem.
No wonder it's "The Kingdom of Heaven," its absolutely amazing!
We also went to see the cathedral where Jesus was believed to be resurrected from the dead and that was also amazingly beautiful... Unfortunately, going to the wailing wall was out of the question because of the Jewish Israeli security but just being in the city of religion was all I needed. The city looks exactly like one would picture it- there's the old city that's untouched and there's olive trees everywhere and old stones from the Ottoman and Roman empires and the history is just astounding
Seriously, after seeing all this -I've really taking a great interest in Architecture- the problem is that's a problem...
UNC doesn't offer it and I'm not really willing to transfer and i don't know i feel as if it too late.. we'll see - maybe grad school!
anyway I really loved Jerusalem- I loved everything about it and on top of all the sight seeing we got to go shopping so I got to get some beautiful souvenirs for all my beautiful friends. That being said I'm so broke haha...
Alrighty time to get back to reality.. until next time

"I used to roll the dice, feel the fear in my enemies eyes.."
Today is my cousin's engagement.
Time to dress up and try to look pretty and then continue to be judged by every person in the room.
If you know me - you know how much I hate people looking at me - I will no doubt turn 5 different shades of red. Also because all the girls are expected to dance- and again if you know me at all- I hate dancing in front of people ... Ironic because of the debkah i know but this kind of dancing is a completely different story
...Thats the problem with being related to the groom - people always always look at the grooms family
Ive been to 2 weddings/ engagements and in each one - when we got back -my cousins would tear the girls apart ...
Its so sad how shallow people can be..
On a lighter note - Carolina has definitely been on my mind- I miss college.
But I really do lovve it here - I've grown an obsession for rooftops but not because I feel on top of the world but rather because it makes me feel so incredibly small- it just puts things in perspective- its amazing... I LOVE rooftops
Also,
Ive been doin a little wandering and after walking up the mountain/ hill next to my grandfathers house I found this amazing spot inbetween the olive trees on top where I just sit and draw and write and I just feel like its the most beautiful spot in the city.
ps- I love Coldplay

Little boys are funny
If you don't know already I have a little brother named Adam. He's three and a disaster in the making.
The other day I was putting on his spiderman pajamas for him- he's absolutely obsessed with spiderman right down to the underwear- and well all of the sudden the kid starts singing, quote:
"Apple Je-anssss
low
low
low
low
low
low
Hit the floowl
Hit the apple jeans"
It was the shock of the lifetime- I mean the first time I hear my little brother sing a song and its that song and we're in Palestine...
needless to say the lyrics were in the wrong order and he was terribly off-key (no doubt inherited from big sister :) ) but it was amazingly funny.
I also discovered him singing "Peanut better Jelly time, where ya at? where ya at?"
I think me and my younger sister need to have a conversation about what music shes listening to in front of my little brother....

Useless
I feel useless lately. I'm in the place where prophets were born and miracles, as well as disaster, happens daily- continually.
You know whats really sad- theres atleast 15 Qurans in my grandparents house and i brought schoolwork with me and I havent touched either- not that the two even compare.
But still. I feel useless.
I can make myslef feel better by saying I atleast appreciate the greatness of the land I come from- which I do, I really do- I love Palestine. I will always love Palestine.
But thats really not enough, I need to start making an effort to better myself while Im here- acadimically, and most importantly religiously. I have so many amazing sources here- including my Arabic speaking family that understand and have studied the holy Quran much more than I have. I need to take advantage of these things.
Allhumdullillah I do feel like I have grown spiritually- putting yourself in situations where you can rethink your life and all your decisions and appreciate all the things you've learned is a great feeling. Im fortunate enough to atleast have plenty of time to just sit and think- I've been doing a lot of that, but now its time to take it up a noch! :)

The Final Stretch
Mom and the siblings are joining us in Jordan tomorrow- that means we're days away from being in Palestine.
I absolutley can't wait.
Jordan's been fun but I'm tired of all the family visits and meeting 68546757 relatives I've never in my life seen before but have to pretend to care about. that's mean... I know. I love my family,
just not all of them
I'm looking forward to being in the homeland. Walking in the footsteps of my father and mother- my grandfather, and grandmother. I cant wait to go on the rooftop and watch the sunset over the mountaintops of my grandfather's house and drinking tea with my 50+ first cousins on my mothers side alone.
The air smells different there; the food tastes different there- everything is different there.
When everyone can make themsleves happy in a place and a time of unhappiness, you know your among the people that really love you and the place you belong.
